In the 21st century, remarkable strides in technology and the pursuit of the seemingly impossible have become hallmarks of our world. However, amidst this progress, we have unwittingly been undermining the very planet we call our home.
While it remains crucial for us to embrace these progress and thrive as nations, we must also recognize the urgent need to preserve a sustainable planet for future generations, as our predecessors once did for us.
The time has arrived for us to heal our fractured home – if not now, then when? With billions of people on this planet, we are collectively generating millions of threats to its well-being.
The global carbon footprint, an environmental gauge, represents the cumulative impact of human actions on a planetary scale. It encapsulates the consequences of our choices, particularly the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas, along with deforestation and industrial processes. These activities relentlessly contribute to the disruption of our Earth’s climate system.
It is of utmost importance that we take a moment to reflect upon the disaster we have created and make necessary changes to restore our delicate ecosystem.
With the continuous growth in population, there has been a significant increase in the carbon footprint. According to the most recent statistics, the world’s carbon dioxide emissions from industrial processes and energy combustion increased by 0.9% which is 321 Mt in 2022, and has set a new record high of 36.8 Gt.
With over 31% of the global total, China overtook the United States as the top emitter of carbon dioxide in 2021.Scientists have said, if the current levels of carbon emissions continue, there’s a 50% chance that in just nine years the world will see the global warming limit of 1.5°C exceeded.
The Future of India:
In 2020, India was the third-largest emitter of carbon dioxide by volume. India was identified as one of the top five countries with a significant carbon footprint. Despite the fact India stands as one of the top contributors, the government is taking active measures to reduce the carbon footprint
. In the UN discussion, India has pledged to reduce the emissions intensity of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 45% by 2030. As a Nation, India’s target date to reach net zero emissions is 2070. In order to achieve this individuals and organizations must take certain measures and abide by them strictly for a better tomorrow.
Our contribution:
Achieving carbon neutrality, or having a zero carbon footprint, is an important step in minimising the effects of climate change and ensuring a sustainable future. We can dramatically reduce global warming and its accompanying repercussions by lowering or offsetting the quantity of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases put into the atmosphere.
Cycle Pure recognized the importance of purity in spiritual offerings and demonstrated forward- thinking in 2010 by becoming the industry’s pioneer in achieving a zero carbon footprint.
Anything you buy, use, or consume leaves a carbon footprint in the environment. Either during manufacturing, packaging, or transporting. When this carbon footprint is offset by eco-friendly initiatives, we can achieve zero carbon status. We were able to achieve this with various measures taken such as supporting afforestation, clean energy initiatives across the globe, plantation drives, planting sacred trees around temples, and engaging with suppliers who prioritize sustainability.
In 2022, at Cycle, we devised an enjoyable approach to amplify our reforestation efforts. As the official partners of the TN cricket team, we came up with a unique and fun plan to contribute to the environment. For every remarkable sixes and fours hit by the players during our matches, we pledged to plant a sapling of those many numbers.
By initiating such small yet impactful changes, we found a way to nurture our surroundings and create a more sustainable habitat.
It is important for us as brands in the prayer sector to prioritize this aspect and recognize the profound connection between devotees and God. We as organizations must make a conscious effort in waste reduction, reusing products, and introducing recycling procedures. Furthermore ,the use of electric vehicles will be crucial in achieving this objective.
It is important for us as businessmen to raise awareness among employees, clients, and other stakeholders, work with sustainable suppliers, encourage carpooling and replace paper with digital documentation and also implement a carbon offset program to offset the carbon produced by the companies. After all, no matter what we pray for, it can only happen on this planet.
A single step towards a better world can put us on the path to achieving a zero carbon footprint, which is a goal that is well within our grasp. It takes dedication and genuine concern for the planet we call home.
So when we choose to go zero-carbon, we are showing our care for our planet. And today as climate change unfolds before our eyes, striving to go Zero Carbon is the right thing to do. For ourselves, for our dear ones, and for our future generations let us do the right thing.
