New Delhi:- Well marked low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, which likely to intensify into a deep depression in the next 24 hours, will bring heavy to very heavy rainfall over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha next three days, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a statement.
Heavy rainfall is also likely to prevail over Jharkhand, Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya during the day.
Meanwhile, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Telangana are expecetd to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds during the next two days.

Monsoon conditions are likely to remain active over central parts of the country during the next 3 days, bringing widespread rainfall activity.

According to the weather forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the districts of Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, ASR, Anakapalli and Kakinada on Tuesday.
The intensity of rainfall will increase on September 23, 24 and 25 when the system is likely to intesify further. Except for Rayalaseema, all the other districts are expected to receive widespread or fairly widespread rainfall on these three days.
Red alerts have been issued for
the districts of Kakinada, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna and Eluru on September 23 and 24 as extremely heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places in the districts on these two days
The Alipore Meteorological Office said the system is likely to cross the coast between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur late today night or by Wednesday morning. Heavy rain is forecast in South Bengal today, particularly in coastal districts.
An orange warning is in force in South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore for rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour.
Kolkata and some places in adjoining areas are experiencing heavy rain fall from the morning. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until the 25th. In North Bengal, yellow warnings have been issued for Malda, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur for thunderstorms and gusty winds.
