New Delhi:- A low-pressure area over the east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by Monday morning, October 26, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast.

According to the IMD, the weather system is expected to strengthen into a depression by Saturday, October 24, and further intensify into a deep depression by Sunday, October 25, before developing into a cyclonic storm on Monday.

The system is likely to move west-northwestwards towards the north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts over the subsequent two days. However, its exact track, intensity and potential impact will become clearer as the system develops.

Meanwhile, Odisha is expected to experience increased rainfall activity from Monday. Widespread rainfall, accompanied by isolated heavy showers, is likely across parts of the state between Tuesday, October 27, and Thursday, October 29.

The developing weather system could also lead to rough sea conditions in parts of the Bay of Bengal. The IMD has advised fishermen to closely follow official weather warnings and avoid venturing into affected sea areas.

The weather department is closely monitoring the system and is expected to issue further updates on its movement, intensification and possible impact on coastal areas.
