China has issued renewed weather alerts today, warning of heavy rainstorms and high temperatures across several regions. The National Meteorological Centre (NMC) maintained a yellow alert for rainstorms.

It forecasted heavy rainfall till Sunday, in areas including Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Beijing, Tianjin, and parts of southern China.

NMC said, some regions may see hourly rain exceeding 70 millimetres, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

Local authorities have been urged to prepare drainage systems and safeguard farmlands and fishponds. In addition, the NMC renewed a yellow alert for extreme heat. Temperatures between 35-39°C are expected in northern China, Shaanxi, and southern regions.

Some areas, like Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Xinjiang, may see temperatures over 40°C. Residents are advised to avoid excessive sun exposure and take precautions.

The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a black rainstorm warning today, the second time this week. Heavy rain, exceeding 70mm per hour, has fallen or is expected to fall across the region. The Home Affairs Department has activated its emergency coordination center. Temporary shelters have been opened for those in need.

Due to the storm, several public services have been suspended. General outpatient clinics and specialist clinics are closed. Schools have canceled afternoon classes. Hong Kong Wetland Park is shut, and people are advised not to visit country parks.

This follows the first black rainstorm warning of the year issued on July 29. The warning signals continuous heavy rainfall in the region.
