TKM culminates ‘Environment Month 2025’ with strong emphasis on sustainable business practices

Bengaluru: In a strong reaffirmation of its commitment to environmental sustainability, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) concluded its Environment Month 2025 celebrations with a series of impactful initiatives under the theme ‘Sustainable Resource Management Drive’. Centred on the concept of ‘Zero-Base Thinking’, the campaign focused on eliminating plastic use and embedding eco-conscious practices across the company’s operations and supply chain.

The month-long initiative saw participation from over 3,100 individuals, including employees, partners, and community members, united by the common goal of fostering sustainability both within the workplace and across society.

Electric and CNG Trucks Drive Green Logistics Push

One of the highlights of the initiative was the launch of 17 electric trucks in partnership with TKM’s logistics provider, which will serve five key supply routes. This move represents a significant step towards achieving carbon neutrality and aligns with the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, specifically Challenge 2: Lifecycle Zero CO2 Emissions.

To further reinforce sustainable logistics, TKM has implemented a Mixed Logistics Model—developed in collaboration with its group companies—to optimize vehicle delivery routes and improve operational efficiency. The company also introduced CNG trucks and adopted a ‘Return Logistics Reduction’ approach, minimizing empty return trips and reducing overall emissions.

Leadership Commitment to Holistic Sustainability

“At Toyota Kirloskar Motor, we view sustainability as a shared responsibility that extends beyond our products and manufacturing to include the entire value chain,” said Mr. B. Padmanabha, Executive Vice President and Director, Manufacturing, TKM. “From transitioning to green logistics to nurturing young changemakers and engaging communities, Environment Month 2025 reflects our integrated approach to sustainability stewardship.”

He added that the company’s initiatives are aligned with India’s national sustainability goals, contributing to a more inclusive, resilient, and carbon-neutral future.

Grassroots Engagement and Education Initiatives

As part of its community outreach and awareness efforts, TKM organized a Green Exhibition at its Bidadi plant under its ‘Sustainovation Hub’ platform. The exhibition showcased the role of corporate innovation in driving environmental change.

In parallel, a student-led eco exhibition featured over 30 creative models focused on waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, and sustainable living—demonstrating the growing role of youth in shaping a greener tomorrow.

Looking Ahead

With its Environment Month 2025 initiatives, TKM has not only advanced its internal sustainability targets but also strengthened its role as a catalyst for environmental awareness and action in the broader community. The company’s efforts exemplify how industry can play a pivotal role in supporting national and global climate goals through innovation, collaboration, and education.
