LR Energy inaugurates its 1st Compressed Biogas project in Haryana

New Delhi: LR Energy has successfully commissioned and inaugurated its 1st Compressed Biogas (CBG), Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Fermented Organic Manure (FOM) projects in Karnal, Haryana, to meet India’s energy requirements through sustainable practices.

These projects were inaugurated under the Indian government’s initiative of SATAT scheme on Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) encouraging entrepreneurs to set up CBG plants.

As per the statement of the company, Compressed biogas has a capacity of around 2000 MTPA, while 9000 MTPA is the capacity of fermented organic manure, which will be supplied to the Indian Oil Limited.

Speaking about the initiative, GS Barara Director & CEO of LR Energy said, “This significant step towards sustainable energy underlines our commitment to aligning with national initiatives and fostering a cleaner, greener future for India”.

LR Energy, said it is installing multiple projects across various locations in North India, producing an impressive CBG of 5000+ Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA).

“The company now gears up for an ambitious expansion, adding 20+ projects to its green portfolio with a cumulative investment of INR 600 Crores (US$70 Mn)” it said.

About SATAT Scheme:-

‘SATAT’ scheme on Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) encourages entrepreneurs to set up CBG plants, produce & supply CBG to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) for sale as automotive & industrial fuels.

The scheme envisages to target production of 15 MMT (million tons) of CBG by 2023, from 5000 Plants.

It will pave the way for efficient municipal solid waste management and help in tackling the problem of polluted urban air due to farm stubble-burning and carbon emissions.

The SATAT initiative has potential to boost availability of more affordable transport fuels, better use of agricultural residue, cattle dung and municipal solid waste, as well as provide additional revenue sources to farmers.
