Mos Ashwini Choubey adopts tiger named Agniveer

New Delhi: To create awareness among the people about wildlife and its conservation, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey, adopted a one-year-old tiger for 1 year and named him ‘Agniveer’.

The Minister adopted the tiger during the inspection of Bengal Safari North Bengal Wild Animals Park on Wednesday under the Adoption Program.

“Animals have a significant role in the balance of the environment. Their protection is essential. For this, there is also a need to make people aware regularly’ the Minister said.

The Minister also asked the officers to conduct awareness campaigns about “Jiva Jantu Sanrakshan Abhiyaan” regularly.

He said that he has seen the fierce form of nature in Kedarnath Dham. Everyone should be aware of the protection of nature. so that such incidents do not happen.

“Under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Government has taken comprehensive steps for the conservation of animals. On the occasion of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, with awareness among people, he has adopted a tiger in memory of the victims of Kedarnath tragedy” he added. The Minister paid 2 lakhs for the maintenance of the adopted tiger online.

PCCF West Bengal Soumitra Das Gupta said that the adoption of a tiger by Union Minister of State Shri Choubey would inspire others.

During the Bengal Safari inspection, IG IRO Kolkata, DFO Wildlife Darjeeling, Assistant Director of Bengal Safari North Bengal Wild Animals Park and other officers were present.

North Bengal Wild Animals Park (Bengal Safari) has come up with an animal adoption program wherein one can adopt an animal for a full year (or for a certain period).

It is an opportunity to showcase the sincerity towards wildlife conservation efforts and create a special bond with the animals.

The contribution made by the adopter will help in the maintenance of animal food, enrichment and veterinary care, education programs and wildlife conservation for endangered and threatened species.

This scheme is open to the general public, animal lovers, corporate section, celebrities, educational Institutions etc. A Zoo gets in an Animal Adoption scheme when the Zoo has enough credibility, commitment and confidence in handling and keeping the animals in its care.
