Narendra Bhooshan assumes charge as Environment Secretary

New Delhi:- Narendra Bhooshan, a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has assumed charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC)

Mr. Bhooshan brings over three decades of administrative experience in both the Central and State Governments, with expertise spanning energy, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, urban development, finance and land-resource management.

Prior to his appointment as Environment Secretary, he served as Secretary, Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development.

During his tenure in the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Mr. Bhooshan held several senior positions, including Additional Chief Secretary, Energy, and Additional Chief Secretary, Technical Education. He also served as Principal Secretary in the Public Works Department, Infrastructure and Industrial Development, IT and Electronics, Science and Technology, and Panchayati Raj departments.

He has also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Noida Authority and held several other key assignments. His field experience includes serving as District Magistrate of Mathura, Firozabad and Udham Singh Nagar.

At the Centre, Mr. Bhooshan has served as Deputy Director General of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Mission Director, National Food Security Management, and Joint Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation. He also served as Officer on Special Duty in the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Bhooshan holds a graduate degree in Electronics and a Master’s degree in International Development Policy from Duke University, USA. He has also undergone professional training in public finance, infrastructure and climate-change preparedness.
