New Delhi: The National Zoological Park (NZP) in Delhi has reported no new mortality among water birds in its aviary or among migratory birds, bringing some relief after heightened concerns over Avian Influenza.
According to the zoo authorities, all samples sent to laboratories after 1 September 2025 have tested negative for the H5N1 Avian Influenza virus.
They added that no mammals in the zoo have tested positive for H5N1 to date, and no other animals are showing influenza-like symptoms.
The NZP stated that intensive sanitation and bio-security measures are being rigorously implemented to safeguard the health of birds, animals, and zoo staff.
The park remains on high alert and is undertaking all necessary actions in line with standard protocols and guidelinesto contain the disease.
Officials said the decision to reopen the zoo to visitors will be taken by the competent authority following due guidelines and will be announced publicly once finalised.
The National Zoological Park’s proactive monitoring and prompt preventive measures aim to ensure the safety of its animal population while maintaining public confidence in the facility’s bio-security standards.
