Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, has said that India’s circular economy has the potential to generate a market value of over 2 trillion dollars and create close to 10 million jobs by 2050.

Bhupender Yadav was addressing the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia and the Pacific, being held in Jaipur.

The Union Minister stated, “India’s Mission Circular Economy is based on three key principles: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials, and regenerate nature”.

He noted that the government has been actively formulating policies and promoting efforts to drive the country toward a circular economy through a whole-of-government approach.

The Union Minister emphasized that production systems must adopt practices aligned with the principles of the circular economy so that they not only reduce resource dependency but also enhance competitiveness.

The three-day forum is being held on the theme Realizing Circular Societies Towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals and Carbon Neutrality in Asia and the Pacific.
