Hindu College unveils Hybrid Air Disinfection Machine to combat air pollution

New Delhi: As the Delhi-NCR is grappling with air pollution, Hindu College came up with a unique set of technological interventions to mitigate the impact of air pollution.

The startup cell of Hindu College introduced a ‘Hybrid Air Disinfection Machine’ on Tuesday, which is capable of taking care of both air pollution and air contaminants like viruses, and bacteria among other infectious agents.

As per the official statement, the machine was found to be 99 percent efficient in deactivating indoor air viruses, bacteria, and fungus in a test conducted by the Shriram Institute for Industrial Research in Delhi.

Talking about the initiative, the Principal of Hindu College, Prof. Anju Srivastava, said, “Our teachers and students excel in innovation projects and work diligently towards a more sustainable environment and society”.

She further that the inventor and physicist Dr. Lalit Kumar, along with his student team, created this machine as a one-stop solution for air pollution and airborne pathogens.

College’s startup, Ionuva Innovations LLP, was selected among the Super-25 startups at a conclave recently organized by Udhmodya Foundation, the startup ecosystem of the University of Delhi, in partnership with Samarth Bharat and the Career Development Center (CDC).

In the conclave, the startup showcased the machine which is capable of taking care of both air pollution and air contaminants like viruses, bacteria, etc.

“This indigenously developed machine is a true innovation under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan’ or the ‘Self-reliant India’ campaign, which is the vision of the new India envisioned by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi,” said the college in a statement.
