India’s traditions and practices have capabilities to tackle climate change: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the world is facing the problem of global warming, but India has the capabilities and the solutions to tackle it.

“Nature has been a pivotal part of India’s heritage and the country has traditions and practices that will help in combating climate change,” he said while addressing from the Ramparts of Red Fort on the 76th Independence Day on Tuesday.

Speaking about the green initiatives by the government, he said through the PLI schemes, India is becoming the manufacturing powerhouse of the world and people are coming to India to Make In India. “We need to be Aatmanirbhar in our energy sector.”

“From solar energy to Mission Hydrogen to adoption of EVs, we need to take these initiatives to the next level for energy independence,” he said.

Calling natural farming is the new strength for India, the Prime Minister said there are multiple employment opportunities opened with the creation of Green Jobs.

Talking about the importance of ethanol bending, Modi said, ” We are highly dependent on oil from gulf countries. We planned to blend 10 per cent ethanol petrol. It appeared to be a difficult task to accomplish however, we achieved the blending of ethanol with petrol well ahead of time.
